The enactment of Employees` Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 was a step to curb economic insecurity due to massive indistrialisation and urbanisation. Since then the scope of the Act has been gradually enlarged and developed into a comprehensive provident-cum-pension system.

The three Schemes framed are :
(1) Employees` Provident Funds Scheme, 1952;
(2) Employees` Deposit-Linked Insurance scheme, 1976; and
(3) Employees` Pension Scheme, 1995. (Earlier Employees` Family Pension Scheme, 1971.)

The book deals with the law of EPF in comprehensive manner with up to date amendments along with the Schemes based on its administration and enforcement over five decades. Besides, it discusses of the High Courts and the Supreme Court on various issues at length and endeavors to explain the findings in simple and precise words, which makes the work highly authoritative and extremely dependable.
