Horticulture Guide for Uttarakhand grew out of visits of Dr. Harbans Singh, Mr. V.R. Suri on the invitation of Dr. M.L. Dewan to Ranichauri, Tehri Garhwal and other parts of Uttrakhand. It was clear that many aspects of horticulture and orchard management need to be spread by those who had helped in making horticulture a successful experience in Himachal Pradesh. Chapters on horticulture technology, with systems of plantation, varieties, sequence and cross pollinizers, planting season, and pollination plants and above all training and pruning of trees for important parts of this guide. It is hoped that the readers especially horticulture students and orchardists will give attention to the details and strive to improve each fruit tree and orchards and give importance to the management including soil and water conservation, organic farming also vegetable varieties, recommended seed rate, also preservation of fruits and vegetables.
