In this book, ‘Working Class Movement’, the author has given a lucid explanation of the evolution, the period of success and also the age of downfall of class struggles in the world. The ideologies of Karl Marx, Lenin, the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, etc. had a significant influence in India during the late 19th and early 20th century. The author analyses the class struggles in India, and also the factors leading to their downfall, not neglecting the internal politics that were breeding within the organizations and outside it.The first half deals with the ideological and political evolution of working class and social democracy, the emergence of the working class and the division of the society into various classes – the bourgeois, the capitalists, etc. In the later part the author analyses the new phase of the working class movement in post-independence era. In the early 20th century, such organizations became overtly powerful by organizing strikes and demonstrations to meet their demand.
