The concept of Sarvodaya was conceived by Mahatma Gandhi while he came across the monumental book "Unto this Last". Gandhi found in it a composite concept of social welfare & economic justice. But he could not activise the concept owing to his preoccupation in the liberation movement of India. He died with the concept of Sarvodaya very much in his mind. Later on Vinoba recued & activised the concept of Bhoodan, Gramdan & Sarvodaya movement. The most salient aspect of Sarvodaya is to extent social, political & economic justice to each individual of the society through de centralisation of power & de centralization of economic. Sarvodaya upholds the ideal of collectivity ownership which is the root cause of discrimination, deprivation & exploitation.

The political objective of Sarvodaya is "De-centralised Democratic Socialism through non-violence & peaceful means."

When the communist sectors of the world is passing through dis-integration with violence reaching the point of saturation and while capitalist countries of the world are facing economic collapse; it is relevant for sarvodaya to seek entry in to the socio-political & economic dimension of the world. Thoughts of sarvodaya expounded by Mahatma Gandhi, Vinobaji, Dada Dharmadhikari & Jay Prakash Narayan can not only save the world from political inconsistency & economic injustice, but can also contribute to the qualities of human beings based on human values.
