Foreign policy of a country is the sum total of its response to various international situations. The domestic situations and the international power structure are the dominant determinants of the foreign policy of a country. In the post cold war period countries adopted an international approach which culminated in a critical awareness and propagation of human rights. As a result of these human rights issues become a major component in the foreign policy of democratic countries. Human beings are born equal in dignity and rights. It is the responsibility of the international community to respect and promote human rights. The study aims to examine the place of human rights issues in the foreign policy agenda of India. India Faces many challenges in the protection of human rights. This includes, communalism and human rights, secessionism and culturally divergent people and human rights, and globalization and human rights. This study is interdisciplinary in nature as socio-economic and political issues are involved.
