This is a truly marvellous record of observations about every aspect of natural history, described with wit and a keen eye. There are notes on birds, fishes, animals, snakes, mountains, rocks, soil, trees, plants, fruits, streams, rivers, lakes, valleys, water drainage, earthquakes, weather, etc. The areas primarily described are the western Himalayas (present day Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh), Kashmir, and Ladakh; there are, however some notes on his journey from Poona to the Himalayas, via Sindh.
