Due to sudden increase in population and the industrial growth not matching with the first rate has opened a flood gate for self employment. Self employment requires the knowledge of marketing, selling techniques, production management, human resource development, personnel management, quality conciseness and trend awareness. All these give rise to design a course on "Entrepreneurship Development and Production Management". This course is taught at under graduate level at Gujarat and some of the African Universities. However, the course has put its sound footing while opting for management degrees at various level. The course is offered at B.E., B. Tech., BBA, MBA level, hence attempt has been made to write a book which takes care of Engg./Technology and Business Administration at one place which is the result of four decades of continuous entraction with faculty and students in offering the subject.
Chapters have been so designed that those who are dealing with entrepreneurship development should concentrate on first half and remaining half takes care of production management, a course offered at final year B.E./B. Tech./ of Chemical & Mechanical Engineering at various universities. Practically, no book of this type is available in the market written by an Indian Author. However, there are many books by foreign authors.
Some topics viz. Total Quality Control, Optimization Techniques have been introduced for the first time to give students a feeling of the subject and to enhance their practical knowledge to use these techniques in their practical circumstances.
To make the book more lucrative, five practical and industrial `Case Studies` have been discussed in detail.
To grasp the depth of the subject a `questionnaire` has been added. It is hoped that the book will be loved by students, teaching faculties and research workers.
