As a UGC Senior Follows, she did her doctoral research on Alternative Sources of Pnachayat Finances in India: An Interstate Analysis. Dr. Agarwal having research and teaching experience of over six years, has devoted her attention mainly on issues and aspects of rural development, Panchayat finances, decentralization and off-course empowering the weaker sectiosn of the society. Dr. Agarwal has participated in a number of national seminars, workshops and consultancy projects.
