The third edition of Computational Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer (CFHT) contains new coverage of topics that have become better understood (and their applications more sophisticated) since the last edition. The authors embrace the new era of the Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations and will update the material accordingly, showcasing the N-S equations in the second part. Chapters 1-4 lay the groundwork for the essential concepts preceding the fluids equations in Part II. The coverage on turbulence and LES (large-eddy simulation) will be expanded and additional material included on DES (detached-eddy simulation) and DNS (direct numerical simulation). Specifically, chapter 9 will include new "high resolution" schemes and "higher-order accurate" schemes as part of the numerical approaches to solving the N-S equations. Chapter 10 will reflect the development and growth of improved treatments of complex geometry.
