First-ever complete reference book on the winners of Ashoka Chakra India’s second highest gallantry award and the only other award, besides the Param Vir Chakra, that is presented on the Republic Day in full view of millions of people gathered at the Rajpath to celebrate the historic day
The coffee table book is a treasure trove on such men and women who made history with their heroic deeds and were thus honoured with the Ashoka Chakra.
Representing all walks of life and hailing from every faith, caste and creed, the men and women enshrined in this book had performed extraordinary feats of courage, valour and self-sacrifice.
Besides the armed forces, the recipients include police officers, pilots, astronauts, doctors, air-hostesses, train drivers and the ordinary villagers. Not all lived to receive the award in person but their memories will continue to inspire the nation for generations to come.
