The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), is a compulsory exam that all future teachers must take in order to teach students in any class level. There are three sets of CTETS. The first set is for Class 1 to 5. The second and third sets are for classes 6 to 8, and cover Mathematics/Science and Social Science/Other groups. The CTETs are conducted every year, and teachers are required to rewrite the test every seven years. In order to qualify to write the CTET Paper 1, candidates must have obtained 50 per cent marks in their Senior Secondary year and have a two year diploma in an educational field.
