ABOUT THE BOOK:- Editorial Reviews - The Upper Extremity in Sports Medicine Mark R. Hutchinson This is a second edition reference text to sports-related concerns and injuries of the upper extremity. The purpose is to serve as a useful reference for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries in athletes. Indeed, the authors expand into the loftier goal of enhancing the quality of life for participating athletes. The authors have done an excellent job of addressing the former goals and we all hope that they can achieve the latter. The book is written for sports medicine professionals, especially those dealing with musculoskeletal injuries. The reference would be a great assistance for athletic trainers, primary care physicians, orthopedic residents and attendings, and team physicians. The figures and illustrations are of excellent quality and significantly amplify the effectiveness of the material covered. The text is well organized, making it ideal to use as a reference and to quickly identify a topic of interest. The updated references from the first edition make this book current and valuable. The first edition, Upper and Lower Extremity in Sports Medicine , is a classic, valuable reference to the entire sports medicine community. This second edition provides a timely update to the original edition that was published in 1990, and allows the practitioner and sports medicine professional to remain current in the field. My first edition is tattered with use and I will certainly value the update. This book should be on the shelf of every medical and orthopedic library, and part of the personal library of most sports medicine professionals who care for musculoskeletal injuries.
