First launched in 1984, the JCT Intermediate Form rapidly established itself as a popular form of contract and is now widely used for construction work. This authoritative reference examines the contract clause by clause, including the full text of each clause. It looks in detail at the background law and discusses relevant decisions of the courts. The Third Edition has been substantially revised and is based in the 1998 edition of the form, IFC 98. The Joint Contracts Tribunal have issued seven amendments to the contract since the last edition of this book, and all are discussed in detail, including the highly significant Amendment 12 introduced to take account of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. The new edition considers all of the significant cases decided since the book was last published, as well as statutory changes. This continues to be the authoritative guide to the form for all architects, surveyors, contractors and lawyers.
About the Author
Neil Jones LLB(Hons), FCIArb is a practicing solicitor with the firm of Neil F. Jones Solicitors, Birmingham, with considerable experience in building contract matters. He is also currently the Legal Adviser to the Local Authorities Association’s Contrasts Panel, a Council Member of the Joint Contracts Tribunal, and Chairman of its Drafting Sub–Committee. He was closely involved with the drafting of the Intermediate Form. Simon Baylis LLB(Hons), ARICS, FCIArb is a practicing solicitor and managing partner of the firm of Neil F. Jones Solicitors, Birmingham. His experience in building contract matters has been gained from the practice both as a chartered quality surveyor in the construction industry and as a solicitor dealing with construction disputes.
