The present publication is the logical outcome of the Proceedings of University Grant Commission sponsored National Seminars "History and Archaeology of the Narmada Valley Problems and Perspectives" and "Narmada Valley Culture through the Ages-A Study in Distinct Identity" held at the C.P. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, a Postgraduate College affiliated to Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, M.P Forty five selected research papers published in this volume throw light on the latest trends of investigations conducted in the Valley of the Narmada. The aspects covered are: Geo-archaeology, Prehistory, Proto-history, Ancient, Medieval and Modern History, Art, Architecture and Painting, Numismatics and Epigraphy, Literature, Philosophy and Religion.
