This book``Justice with Urdu`` is published under the aegis of Dr. Kailas Nath Katju Memorial Trust, which was formed in 1987 to mark the birth centenary of Dr. Kailas Nath Katju, a legal luminary and imposing personality of the time Dr. K.N. Katju started active public service, when he became a Minister of Law & Justice in the interim government of United Provinces. He also excelled as Union Minister for Home, Law and Justice and Defense. Later, he was Governor of Orissa and West Bengal. He was also made the Chief Minister at the time of reorganization of Madhya Pradesh.
For the last 25 years, the Memorial Turst is engaged in spreading the values and ideals of Dr. K.N. Katju through Annual Memorial Lectures, Symposia and Publication of Books on Law and Justice and on the Secular Ethos of India.
This book ``Justice with Urdu`` comprises some landmark judgments of Justice Markandey Katju, in which he has quoted Urdu Ashaar. Some other writings on Urdu language, its origin and relevance are also part of this book. We are indebted to Justice Markandey Katju, the worthy grandson of Dr. Kailas Nath Katju for his brilliant Judgments and valuable writings. While furthering the legacy of his grandfather and beloved father, Justice Katju has decided not to take any royalty out of the proceeds of this book. The sales proceeds will be used for nurturing new talents of Urdu poetry by encouraging them with cash awards.
