Godhra : A Mystery Unfold
In Godhra (India), fifty seven people mostly women and children were burnt when the train that carried Hindu activists on 27 February, 2002 was engulfed in flames at the behest of a Muslim mob at Godhra in Gujarat state. They were returning from the holy city of Ayodhya. After the violence, more than a thousand people died and nearly 1.25 million people were displaced from 1600 village and towns in Central and northern Gujarat, with nearly 50,000 lodged in makeshift camps in Ahmedabad, and, another 50,000 reportedly staying with their relatives.
