The author reveals that the present volume was originally intended as a companion to the European guide to Gurkhali. He has tried to avoid the use of Hindi words, when a Nepali word was available. Nothing has been left undone to make the work easy to British officers. Khaskura has been used in this book, which is the most common language of the inhabitants of Nepal. This book is the product of extensive study of this language. There is no word in this book to which exception may justly be taken. The book is an indispensable one in the context of the language of Nepal.
