The volume deals with corporate governance in India keeping in view recent cases of mega-corporate frauds and corruption. Arguing that corruption misallocates scarce resources from the meritorious to the unworthy and undermines people’s trust in the system, it is an attempt to find appropriate governance rule to ensure sustainability and effectiveness of the institution of public and private corporate bodies. With specific reference to the two mega corruption scandals of 2009 involving Satyam and Spectrum in India, it closely scrutinises the current state of corporate governance especially how to devolve power for the effectiveness of corporate bodies and suggests possible remedies like strengthening the company’s corporate governance committee. Dr. Swamy was union commerce minister in 1990-91. He prepared the blueprint for economic reforms which were adopted by the Narasimha Rao government in the 1990s.
