In this study an attempt has been made to analyze the role of electrification in the development of rural sector with reference to Nagpur District. In Nagpur District also electrification for the development of agriculture is one of the essential requirements. It changes the traditional pattern of agriculture and helps in improving the standard of living of the farmers. Though the importance of electrification is largely recognized, still the use of electricity for farm use is far from satisfactory in some of the backward areas. Nagpur District is not an exception to this. Uses of electricity in forming activities can be considered as an indication of the modernization in rural sector of the economy. In rural area of Nagpur District, with the adoption of new techniques of production, the capital output ratio has changed the structure and pattern of rural economy. Rural people have started using various modern equipments for their daily household consumption.
