Dynamism in Geography is one of the most important aspects of the subject. The changing nature of the subject is aptly reflected during frequent changes in the syllabi at the school and college levels. The plus two stages of the Secondary Education is considered to be the turning point for career orientation. The subject matter needs to be analyzed with a new perspective to cope with the changing nature of the subject.
The Modern Geography for class-XI has been written in accordance with the latest Syllabus of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The language is comprehensive so as to make students easily grasp the concepts. At the beginning of every topic, the important points are highlighted, with diagrams, maps and graphs.
The book is divided into three parts”Part-A contains Fundamentals of Physical Geography, Part-B contains Physical Environment of India and Part-C contains Practical Work. The author will deem his labour amply rewarded if the book proves useful to those for whom it is intended.
About the Author:
Dr. Phani Deka (University Gold Medalist of 1965) obtained M.Sc. degree from the Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam. He then obtained M.A. degree from the Indiana University, Bloomington, USA and the Ph.D. degree from the Gauhati University, Assam. He has also done Postgraduate Diploma in General Management (PGDGM) from All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi and recipient of O.P Anand Memorial Award.
Dr. Deka has served as a Reader in Geography at the Gauhati University, Guwahati and the North Eastern Hills University, Shillong. He has also served as Expatriate Professor of Geography at the Somali National University, Mogadishu, Somalia for four years. He has retired as the Director of the Centre for Industrial Planing and Development at the National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, GoI. isbn 9788122433456
