South Asia is one of the most poorly governed regions of the world, with the exclusion of a voiceless majority, unstable political regimes and poor economic management. This book covers a wide range of internal crisis, conflicts and confrontation so dangerous to the security and survival of the South Asian states. It discusses all the simmering separatists, extremists, terrorists` movements and insurgencies in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the much-debated autocratic democracy in Maldives. It adopted different approaches to develop an understanding of the existing internal crises from various angles. South Asia`s existing internal crisis are deep rooted in its turbulent and unfinished process of state building, unsettled social equations and political hierarchies` assertion for identity and autonomy on the basis of ethnic, linguistic, religious and cultural; and ownership of the territories that sharpen the ethnic and sectarian violence and defies all attempts of stabilisation.
