The book is aimed at teachers of design, art history and architecture who want to generate a sustained dialogue on India`s traditional design thoughts and their interpretation into modern design theories. The author has been actively engaged with the pedagogy of teaching design since 1977 and has developed a training kit Design and Enviroment comprising an introductory manyal and a series of eight short films for telecast on the National Educational Programme. H Kumar Vyas has had a long and fruitful association with the National Institue of Design spanning a period of 30 years. He is one of the architects of the foundation Programme and the Industrial Design Curriculum and Faculry at NID. Since his retirement from NID, he has been an active visiting faculty at NID, School of Interior Design,Ahmedabad, and National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar.
